About This Pattern
Rosie is worked in continuous rounds from the top of the head down for each body piece. Use a stitch marker to track the beginning of each round. Work tightly — gaps in amigurumi let the stuffing show through.
Important: Insert safety eyes before closing the head. If making for children under 3, embroider eyes with black yarn instead.
HEAD
Rounds 1–6: Building the Sphere
- Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into ring. (6 sts)
- Rnd 2: Inc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Rnd 3: *Sc 1, inc; rep from * around. (18 sts)
- Rnd 4: *Sc 2, inc; rep from * around. (24 sts)
- Rnd 5: *Sc 3, inc; rep from * around. (30 sts)
- Rnd 6: *Sc 4, inc; rep from * around. (36 sts)
Rounds 7–12: Straight Section
- Rnds 7–12: Sc in each st around. (36 sts, 6 rounds)
Insert Safety Eyes
Position eyes between Rnds 8 and 9, approx 8 sts apart. Press firmly to secure backs.
Rounds 13–18: Shaping the Chin
- Rnd 13: *Sc 4, dec; rep from * around. (30 sts)
- Rnd 14: *Sc 3, dec; rep from * around. (24 sts)
- Rnd 15: *Sc 2, dec; rep from * around. (18 sts)
Stuff the head firmly with fibrefill.
- Rnd 16: *Sc 1, dec; rep from * around. (12 sts)
- Rnd 17: Dec around. (6 sts)
Close with sl st, leaving a long tail. Fasten off and set aside.
EARS (Make 2)
- Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Rnd 2: Inc in each st. (12)
- Rnd 3: *Sc 1, inc; rep from *. (18)
- Rnds 4–5: Sc around. (18)
Do not stuff. Flatten and sew to top of head, positioned over Rnd 3–4.
BODY
- Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc. (6)
- Rnd 2: Inc each st. (12)
- Rnd 3: *Sc 1, inc. (18)
- Rnd 4: *Sc 2, inc. (24)
- Rnd 5: *Sc 3, inc. (30)
- Rnds 6–14: Sc around. (30, 9 rounds)
- Rnd 15: *Sc 3, dec. (24)
- Rnd 16: *Sc 2, dec. (18)
Stuff body firmly.
- Rnd 17: *Sc 1, dec. (12)
- Rnd 18: Dec around. (6). Close. Fasten off with long tail.
ARMS (Make 2)
- Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc.
- Rnd 2: Inc each st. (12)
- Rnds 3–10: Sc around. (12, 8 rounds)
Stuff lightly. Flatten, close with sc across. Leave tail for sewing.
LEGS (Make 2)
- Rnds 1–2: Same as Arms. (12 sts)
- Rnds 3–12: Sc around. (12, 10 rounds)
Stuff firmly. Flatten, close. Leave tail.
ASSEMBLY
- Sew head to top of body using yarn needle and long tail.
- Sew arms to sides of body at Rnd 6, angled slightly forward.
- Sew legs to base of body.
- Tie a small cream yarn bow and stitch at neck.
- Weave in all ends. Rosie is ready!
